When a place is first built, it's constructed to have a distinct personality; casual, fancy, dull, lively - this is the same with people. When a person is born there are certain traits which inhabit each individual that cannot be changed; optimistic, defensive, faithful, dishonest. Yet, we all have moods; good days and bad, anger and jubilation; but all in all we remain ourselves.
Places follow the same suit. Pictured above, Blue Sky in downtown Athens, GA always has a distinct casual, take-a-chill-pill vibe. The personality of the lounge was forged when blue sky was first born. The dock-like patio, the cushioned outdoor furniture and the string lights all lend themselves to the overall relaxed nature of the place.
But like all of us, Blue Sky has moods. I've seen it anxious while packed to the rim with riled-up football fans after the USC game, gloomy when a winter storm prohibits use of the outdoor deck, and mellowed out every Wednesday night when locals are encouraged to bring in their vinyls to share and explore music.
I guess what I'm getting at here is to remind myself that I'm going to evolve as the world around us revolves. I'll have amazing days as well as some shitty ones. But at the end of it all, it's still me, she's still her and Blue Sky still plays the best music this side of the mason-dixon.
